Karen Yasui, Petalland Flower and Herb
About Petalland
Petalland Flower and Herb Farm is owned by Karen and Bob Yasui, farming on land that has been in the family for over 150 years. Designated as a century farm. We grow a huge variety of flowers and herbs using only organic methods. This is a sanctuary for pollinators, wildlife and threatened medicinal herbs. We have been actively planting this farm for over 30 years, so we have a lot of established perennials and shrubs in addition to our annual gardens. Not certified organic, but our land is clean. We have never used pesticides and we have had our soil tested for pesticides that could have been used more than 40 years ago, just to make sure it is clean.
Petalland is located in the Raus community of Bedford county, Tennessee, 15 minutes from Tullahoma or Lynchburg, about 56 miles from Huntsville, AL and 70 miles from Nashville. Visits by appointment only, contact karenyasui@united.net
We sell to everyone, retail and wholesale. As farmers we do not have to collect sales tax, blurring the distinction between retail and wholesale.
Andrew and Misty Moman, Twin Rose Farm
About Twin Rose Farm
Located in Murfreesboro, TN
We started growing field grown flowers in 2017. Over the years we have learned a lot about growing many different varieties of flowers from seed, bulb, corm- you name it. The typical time we have flowers blooming is from the end of March-frost. We are working on adding more perennial flowers and woodies to our property.
Twin Rose Farm was named after 3 of our 4 daughters. (We named the farm before we had our 4th :) ) The girls will hopefully be more and more involved in the work around the farm as they get older.
We have done farmer’s markets, CSA subscriptions, weddings, sold wholesale flowers, made arrangements for many occasions, and just about any way you can sell flowers. Starting in 2025, we’ve decided to focus more time on the property and less time delivering and setting up at markets. Wholesale and specialty orders will still play a part in our process, but hoping to focus on growing more and selling directly from the farm.

Rooted in food, farming & family
While dating in college, way back in 1999, we worked on an organic vegetable farm together. During trips to the shore to collect seaweed for fertilizer, hours in the hot, Florida sun & lots of time experimenting with new foods and new cuisine, we fell in love….with food, farming and each other.
We travelled and lived on farms for 10 years until, in 2009, we bought our own land, originally only 6.5 acres. It was a clear cut ridge top, void of vegetation and topsoil and we set out to apply all the things we’d learned, to help restore it.
From 2009-2019, we owned Spiral Ridge Permaculture, teaching homesteader skills & designing for others, while developing our own land. During this time we acquired three of the surrounding plots of land, bringing our total number of acres to 50. We now owned the whole ridge! These purchases made it possible to farm full time (we finally had enough flat-ish land), so we closed the doors on Spiral Ridge and created Pig & Leaf.
It’s been a lot of work and there have been a lot of helping hands along the way.
Now, this once ravaged landscape, is an ecological farm, full of orchards, rainwater harvesting swales & ponds, beneficial insect/pollinator habitats, forest gardens, flower & vegetable gardens, woodland animal systems & our off-grid, naturally built home.
